Philippine financial technology (fintech) companies should take advantage of growing market opportunities by taking aggressive action, market intelligence and advisory services provider International Data Corporation (IDC) said.

IDC Financial Insights unveiled a list of 10 fast growing fintechs in the Philippines, part of the broader FinTech 101 list for Asia/Pacific, at the FinTech Innovation Summit 2017 held at Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila. “IDC’s FinTech Fast 101” refers to the fast-growing fintech players in Asia/Pacific based on extensive on-ground analysis of the dominant fintech players within the region.

These are just some of the most effective inclusive business (IB) strategies of a few local companies which the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), in partnership with the United Nations Development Program-Business Call to Action (UNDP-BCtA), hopes to make an example of to inspire others to follow suit, through the organization’s recently launched book “New Horizons: How Inclusive Business is Achieving SDGs in the Philippines.”

To challenge the notion that startup founders should have background in the field of technology to build a startup company, iPrice Group conducted a focused study in SEA markets to determine if fields of study and level of education influence their success as founders and co-founders. In the Philippine startup scene, the results suggest that business and social sciences are the two most common fields of study among Philippine startup founders. Interestingly, more founders and co-founders took their bachelor’s degree in the “Big 4” Philippine Universities and later pursue a higher degree abroad.
